INDIA, 66 million go social?

Social sites users in urban India are estimated to reach 66 million by June 2013 with the rising of availability of affordable smartphones and consequent mobile Internet use, a report said Tuesday.
"The number of social media users in urban India reached 62 million by December 2012 and it is estimated to reach 66 million by June 2013," a report on social media in India by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) and Indian Market Research Bureau (IMRB) said.
About 74 percent of all active Internet users in urban India use social media.

From the 80 million active Internet users in India, 72 %  have accessed one or the other social networking site.

Facebook is the most accessed website with 97 percent of all individuals using it follow Google+ and LinkedIn

"The average time spent by Indian netizens was 29.6 minutes on weekdays as compared to 28.8 minutes on weekend days," the report added.

Sony reduces price of the PlayStation Vita 3G version, now for $200 at some US stores.

China's foreign minister denies that his nation cyberattacked USA.





China's foreign minister rejected that the china's brave military was behind the hacking attacks on U.S.  and called for more international cooperation in safeguarding the Internet. U.S. cybersecurity firm "Mandiant" traced hacking attacks to the red dragons military unit in Shanghai.

                     "Anyone who tries to fabricate or piece together a sensational story to serve their political motive will not be able to blacken the name of others or whitewash themselves," Yang told reporters at an annual news conference . "We hope the relevant parties will stop irresponsible attacks or accusations." China's Defense Ministry also has rejected supporting cyber attacks of any kind . It brought in light claims which said that the China's two websites were tried to be hacked  by foreign hackers for an average of 144,000 times per month last year, with two-thirds of the attacks from the United States. While Manditians report said that a massive ammount of private information from many U.S. companies by chinese hackers. China blocks global websites such as Facebook and Twitter as it sees them as a platform for organizing activities against the everruling Communist Party.

                         "We oppose turning cyberspace into a new battlefield or using the Internet as a new tool to interfere in other countries' internal affairs," Yang said.

           Google says the FBI is monitoring the Web for potential terrorist activity. But it can't confirm the extent of the surveillance.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation calls the letters "dangerous" and has challenged the authority, along with the American Civil Liberties Union.
